2012 PREDICTIONS
2012 Predictions - No. 1 Mayan Calendar 2012

The Mayans have a "long-count" calendar that covers 1,000's of years. It ends on 21 December, 2012. Of the 2012 predictions this is the one that has received most attention. So, are the Mayan's concerned about this? Do they think this means the world will end?

Mayan archaeologist Jose Huchm said, "If I went to some Mayan-speaking communities and asked people what is going to happen in 2012, they wouldn't have any idea. That the world is going to end? They wouldn't believe you. We have real concerns these days, like rain." [quoted from "What is the galactic alignment" by John Major Jenkins]
2012 Predictions - No. 2 Nostradamus 2012

The 2012 predictions would not be complete without Nostradamus. Nostradamus was a French man some believe to be a prophet. Some believe that his predictions included the September 11 attacks on the twin towers that his writings also contained 2012 predictions about the end of the world.

2012 Predictions - No. 3 Planet X 2012 (Nibiru)

Included among 2012 predictions is the belief that there is a 12th planet in our solar system whose orbital path comes close to earth every 30million or so years. If it doesn't hit us they say, the gravitational pull of this planet will cause massive destruction on earth that we will not recover from

2012 Predictions - No. 4 Armageddon 2012

Armageddon is the prediction of an ultimate war between good and evil that the Bible speaks of. It is a war that God himself will step in and end. Even those who do not believe in the Bible believe that the way the world is going, we are headed for a final conflict that will bring an end to most of not all civilization.

2012 Predictions - No. 5 Apocalypse 2012

Apocalypse is different to Armageddon. It is the English version of the Greek word apokalupsis. Apokalupsis is translated as "revelation" in the book of Revelation in the Bible. It means "lifting of the veil". However, the word Apocalypse has historically taken on the meaning of "the terrible judgements foretold to happen at the end of Man's rule on Earth" which are described in that book.

Thus, "The Apocalypse" is another term for the book of Revelation, as well as the series of events described in the book of Revelation. Apocalypse is also a technical term for a certain type of biblical prophecy. An apocalyptic passage in the Bible is viewed as a prophecy describing events that will surely come to pass, and thus cannot be affected by the choices made by men. One of those events is the battle of Armageddon.

2012 Predictions - No. 6 Solar Flares 2012

NASA regularly monitor solar (sun) activity and can even predict general cycles showing when the most likely time will be for larger flares. In a general way, these predictions are reasonable reliable. But do their predictions include an extra big flare on December 21, 2012? Can they tell us that this will destroy the earth? To find the answer,

2012 Predictions - No. 7 December 21, 2012 Galactic Alignment

It is claimed that on December 21, 2012 there will be some form of mystical astronomical alignment with the center of our galaxy. One version of this theory says that the alignment occurs when the sun rises above the horizon on December 21st 2012 (the winter solstice) at which point the sun will rise in the middle of the milky way, thus causing an alignment between the earth sun and the galactic center

2012 Predictions - No. 8 Aliens 2012 rescue

Some believe that humanity was genetically "seeded" by a superior alien race. They believe that in 2012 they are going to come back and do a number of things such as rescue us from self destruction, bring us enlightenment and so on...

Of ALL the 2012 predictions, this is the one that just needs an over-active imagination. We will build a page later to address this more specifically.

2012 Predictions No. 9 - The Web Bot Project

Strictly speaking, the Web Bot project is not one of the 2012 predictions but rather a method some have put faith in to make predictions. Some believe the this project has lead to 2012 Predictions about the end of the world. So what's happening here?

Well, the Web Bot Project was originally developed late in the 1990's to make stock market predictions - not 2012 predictions! It is a automated Internet robot (software programme) that uses robot "spiders" to search the Internet for about 300,000 key emotional words with their context. It uses this to create a "snapshot" of the so called "collective unconscious" of humanity.

From this it is supposed to be able to predict future catastrophic events sixty to ninety days in advance. The Web Bot's predictions are said to include the September 11 bombings as well as some other events.

It has however, also had some big misses. One of its predictions was for a massive earthquake in Vancouver and the pacific north west for December 12, 2008. They never happened!

What about 2012 predictions? Well, a future prediction is for a major cataclysm possiblyinvolving a reversing of the poles and maybe also a small number of nuclear attacks leading up to a major attack. Please understand, these are not 2012 predictions and they are not saying that this will definitely lead to the end of the world. They are just calculated guesses using a computer.

Whatever people think this machine can do, it cannot predict the arrival of a planet X Nibiru (for example) because the planet doesn't exist (see link above); nor can it predict disasters coming from any kind of "galactic alignment" since this happens every year without any causing earth any problems.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Web Bot Project claims to tap into the "collective unconscious" of the world. What they don't tell you is that even if the computer was actually able to do this, then it would be tapping into the lies, myths and really bad science associated with all the 2012 predictions! Since all end of the world 2012 predictions are based on lies, myths and really bad science, then what you end up with is a computer that tells you lies, myths and really bad science.

2012 Doomsday Predictions - including Mayan Calendar 2012

here are many 2012 end of the world predictions. We will just identify a few.
1. There are theories about ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE - but is this December 21 2012 end of the world idea a result of too much time sitting in front of the box and not enough actual facts? And how did they come up with this 2012 doomsday prediction about an alien invasion when there is no widely accepted proof that aliens even exist! This unlike, the next theme, does not deserve any serious attention.

2. What about the biblical PROPHECIES OF ARMAGEDDON - we have already had two world wars, will the world end with the ultimate war between good and evil in the year 2012? Biblical prophecies have been right before. One example is the birth of Christ which fulfilled about 300 prophecies. Before Armageddon comes however (and December 21 2012 is not predicted in the Bible as "Armageddon Day"), biblical prophecies speak of a great time of GREAT TRIBULATION on the earth. Having said that, the Bible not only prophecies about a battle of Armageddon on earth but also increased earthquakes, floods, famine, disease, wars and rumours of wars.

There will be things happening in the heavens far beyond our control. These are not 2012 end of the world doomsday predictions. But the Bible does say God will use cosmic events as means of his judgement on earth before the final day of judgement. If there is a dooms day, that's it. But before that day, Revelation 16:21 speaks of catastrophic disasters like 50 kilo hailstones. Matthew 24:29 says, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the SUN be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:" But while the Bible speaks of judgment on earth before the ultimate "day of judgement", it also speaks of hope and describes very clearly how to escape the coming wrath. This is not about escaping any 2012 end of the world doomsday prediction... but something more fearful!

3. Then there are stories surfacing about SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS along the lines of splitting the atom - will the earth be blown up by a mad scientist? Apparently there is an experiment on a very large scale planned for the year 2012. Could this bring about an end of the world 2012 doomsday? In a long very tunnel, particle physicists plan to collide electrons and positrons (the opposite of electrons). The tunnel may be up to 50km long and they will use energies of up to a trillion electron volts. This will hurl these particles at close to the speed of light. No one knows what will happen if antimatter is created. Could it destroy a delicate balance in the universe? Will December 21 2012 end of the world predictions be fulfilled through scientific a experiment? We don't think so.

4. On an ancient MAYAN CALENDAR 2012 is an IMPORTANT DATE The Mayan Calendar runs out on December 21 2012 and it has been suggested that they knew something we don't. This is the basis of what has been called the Mayan calendar 2012 Prophecy. However, just because an ancient Mayan calendar ends on December 21 2012 it does not mean that the world will end then too, especially as the Mayan's did not actually speak of a doomsday, much less a 2012 doomsday. True, on the Mayan Calendar 2012 was important and you can find out more about this by clicking the link below the next paragraph.
STRANGE MAYAN BELIEFS. While the Mayan's had some interesting beliefs and insights about life and the cosmos and while some of them reflect scientific observations today, there are other things you may not have heard of. For example, the Mayans also believed that our sun is a god powered by blood from human sacrifices - this and other beliefs were influenced by hallucinogenic drugs which were used, among other things for autosacrifices (yes, suicide). So be careful what you believe about Mayan calendars.

5. A very real possibility is DISEASE - we have seen how quickly it can spread and devastate human life on earth. And there has been talk of the threat of pandemics for several years now. Including the recent Swine Flu pandemic. But is it reasonable to say that the world will end this way on exactly December 21 2012 with an earth wide pandemic? No!

6. Will SOLAR FLARES bring about a December 21 2012 end of the world doomsday? Solar flares seem to come in cycles and NASA have said that the sun is due for a big one around 2012. How big and if it will really happen or bring about an end of the world 2012 doomsday are unknown. What we do know is that our life on earth is deeply affected by the activity of the sun. And as mentioned in the section above on Armageddon, the sun WILL play a role in end time biblical judgments on the earth. However, while solar flares and other solar activity may affect us more in 2012 than other years, no one can predict that solar activity will bring about the end of the world on December 21 2012 doomsday.

7. BIOLOGICAL WARFARE has been suggested as a means to earth's end. But again, how can one predict that a 2012 end of the world doomsday from this! Especially that biological weapons will end the world on exactly December 21 2012? The threat of biological warfare will always be here as long as we have insane and / or hateful world control freaks. However, biological warfare cannot be seriously considered as and end of the world 2012 doomsday prophecy, let alone the exact date of December 21 2012. This must be seen as scaremongering and not worthy of attention

8. One prediction is of a GIANT METEOR OR ASTEROID. Meteors have struck the earth before. Could a giant meteor or comet bring about a 2012 end to the world doomsday? Some predict we are overdue for a strike and give 2012 as a possible date for a giant meteor strike on earth. The biggest threat NASA have identified is an asteroid named Apophis. However it is not coming on an end of the world December 21 2012 doomsday and is currently on a Level 0 on the Torino Scale. It will pass close in 2029 with a probability for impact on April 13, 2036 calculated at 1 in 45,000. Asteroid threats still remain. Worth thinking about is Bible prophecy about 50 kilo hail stones and stars falling the sky, but not in 2012. CLICK HERE for more on this.

9. Others believe that a PLANET X: NIBIRU, two thirds earth's size, will pass through our solar system around 2012 causing polar axis shifts on earth. A process, if it actually happens, that would apparently take up to 5,000 years! So, Nibiru or Planet X will not be bringing about a 2012 end of the world doomsday. And definitely not on December 21 2012. To find out why Nibiru actually doesn't actually exist, CLICK HERE (text version) or CLICK HERE to watch a video about Nibiru.

10. Planet X has also been linked to some VAGUE prophecies (or quatrains). Some say that for NOSTRADAMUS 2012 end of the world predictions are true. However, more than once Nostradamus predictions have been "tweaked" to fit with world catastrophes. Nostradamus was a clever man but was he also a prophet? Monday, May 24, 2010 Mayan calender 2012

The abrupt ending of the Mayan Long Count Calendar on December 21 2012 has been described as a prophecy of the end of an age and maybe the world. However in the Mayan Calendar 2012 is not presented as a prophecy of the end of the world. The Mayan Calendar 2012 prophecy is just some people's interpretation; an interpretation that many do not believe. It also needs to be said that Mayan scholars themselves say this idea misrepresents Mayan history. They say that in the long count Mayan Calendar 2012 is not an end of the world doomsday.

However, while it is quite a jump in logic and hard to prove a December 21 2012 doomsday from this calendar, is it still possible that the Mayan understanding of the universe and how it effects life on earth, still has something to teach us. Can it still help us to predict, if not to the day and year, catasrophic events yet to happen on earth?

After all, Mayan beliefs about the universe reflect similar but more detailed discoveries which modern day scientists have made as they observe the known universe today.

In the Mayan Calendar 2012 may not be a doomsday but can we still learn something from Mayan's understanding of the cyclic nature of our solar system as we move through the milky way galaxy. The Mayans speak of a dark rift or galactic plain. They say that the end of an age, which can bring about world wide catastrophes (but not the end of the world) is caused by the world sitting on the what they call a dark rift. Modern scientists speak of the earth passing through this dark rift, or galactic equinox or central plain. This event refers to the cyclic and destructive gravitational influence caused by the massive black hole at the centre of our galaxy.

Some scientists believe that this is behind the increase in magnitude and frequency of earthquakes, floods etc which our world and other planets in the solar system are experiencing.

However, there is no evidence to suggest that these events will climax on December 21 2012 to bring about the end of the world. That said, there is still something you should be concerned about. According to Bible prophecy, increased destruction on the earth from earthquakes, famine, floods, disease are only the FIRST signs of something MORE terrible.

They are described as being like the first pangs of child birth and a reminder that something more fearful is on the horizon.

Why should you take Bible prophecy seriously. Here's one example why: at the birth of Christ, around 300 prophecies were fulfilled! Bible prophecies have a good track record. So when the Bible speaks of something more terrifying than catastrophic disasters like earthquakes and floods that kill 100's of thousands and even giant meteors, it is important to take note.

News by experts

SCIENTIFIC EXPERTS from around the world are predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well come to an end. Some are saying it’ll be humans that would set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who would press the stop button. The following are some likely arguments as to why the world would end by the year 2012.

Reason one: Mayan calendar

The first to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things -- building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

Reason two: Sun storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery. Our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the earth with lot of radiation energy. It’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.

Reason three: The atom smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically, its a 27 km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

Reason four: The Bible says it

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act as well. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between good an evil, has been set for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese Book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

Reason five: Super volcano

Yellowstone National Park in United States is famous for its thermal springs and old faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple -- it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

Reason six: The physicists

This one’s case of bog -- simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berkely University have been crunching the numbers. They’ve determined that the earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming that their calculations prove that we’re all going to die, very soon. They are also saying that their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 per cent; and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

Reason seven: Earth’s magnetic field

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that shields us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call North and South have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so -- and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30 kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is under way, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.
